Gede
Kota Gede is famous for its silver industry. Kraton (Sultan Palace)
- structurally, this is one of the finest examples of Javanese
palace architecture. The palace is attended by very dignified
elderly retainers who still wear traditional Javanese dress.
Taman
Sari ( Water Castle )
Taman Sari ( Water Castle ) is just west of the Kraton. It was
once a splendid pleasure park of palaces, pools, and waterways
for the Sultan and his entourage. In the South of Kraton is an
area for Batik Industry. It is the right place to see the Javanese
Women paint in a unique way.
Sono
Budoyo Museum
Sono Budoyo Museum has a first rate collection of Javanese art
such as puppets, masks, kris, and batik. There is also a courtyard
which is packed with Hindu Statuary.
Jalan
Malioboro
Jalan Malioboro is famous as a souvenir shops colorful bazar.
It is a great place to shop for crafts and antiques, primarily
from Java.
Prambanan
Temple
Prambanan Temple is the best remaining example of Java’s
period of Hindu cultural development.
