Diving Center

The manager of the newly built diving centre, located directly on the Beach is Dieter Merz (Düde) Dieter Merz (Düde) from Switzerland.
It is possible that many of you already know Düde from when he was in Kenya. After years of searching he has finally found a new home with us.
His team of diving instructors and dive masters speak a variety of languages and instructs to both Barakuda (CMAS) and Padi standards.

There is a very good house reef directly in front of the diving centre. Beach dives, night dives and also the free water dives during instruction are all possible.
Especially interesting : A section of our house reef in Pemuteran is part of the biggest Project worldwide to breed coral.
For a distance of about 150m , wire cages have been placed at a depth of 5m in the water. The minor electric current (approx. 6 - 8 volts) which runs though these cages is harmless, even by direct contact, but it results in the corals here growing at a speed 4 times quicker that in other areas. It is interesting to see the fish and fish shoals which seek refuge among these corals.
The rest of our house reef also promises interesting discoveries and fans of macro photography will be delighted.

Pemuteran takas (= Reef)
The reefs are full with corals on sandy ground. The reef roofs are flat, begin on 6-8 m depth and falling up to approximately 25-30 m. You find the best diving experience however between 12-22 m, so that it is well suitable for beginners and advanced divers. Our boats bring you directly from the beach in 10-15 minutes to the diving places. This place is specially for macro diving.

Menjangan Marinepark

Menjangan Island Located in the Bali Barat National Park, 50 minutes by boat from Pemuteran, Menjangan is one of the best dive locations in Bali. A large island, roughly 2km in length by just over half a kilometre in width. Menjangan holds a dozen recognised sites, ranging from sheer drop offs to 60+mtrs, small caves, sandy slopes and a beautiful blue green lagoon with some very nice ghost pipefish in situ. With being located so close to the straits between Bali & Java, deep water pelagic are a regular occurrence. During the rainy season is the best time to have a chance to see manta and the baby (6mtr+) whaleshark, but these like everything, cannot be guaranteed. However bigger fish are the norm at Menjangan, turtle, napoleon, grouper, big barracuda and shark are all regular sightings. But don't be surprised if you're shown the little things as well.

Menjangan also has its own wreck known as Anchor named because of the anchor located in 5mtrs of water at the top of the reef. However after following the chain down you'll find the mast at 30mtrs the far end in 46mtrs. The wreck is a 19th century trading vessel, and though broken up. Experienced divers only.

Secret bay (Gilimanuk bay) ist in etwa 30 Minuten mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Dort koennen Sie inmitten der seltensten und kleinsten Unterwasserwesen tauchen. Es ist wirklich der Makro-Himmel, speziell fuer Photographen, und bietet das beste `muck diving` auf Bali. Secret Bay ist eine riesige Mongravenbucht, gespeist durch den taeglichen Wechsel von Ebbe und Flut. Tauchgaenge sind daher nur bei Flut moeglich, weil dann die Sichtverhaeltnisse besser sind. Der auf den ersten Blick stoerende Muell in dieser 5-10m tiefen Bucht bietet etlichen ansonsten ganz seltenen Critters wie z.B. Mandarinfischen, Seepferdchen verschiedener Farbe, Schlangenaalen, Muraenen, Dragonets, Krabben und Frogfischen eine ideale Behausung.

Das Wrack der Liberty (Tiefe= beginnt bei 2m, endet auf 27m) im Bereich von Tulamben ist 2.5/3 Stunden Autofahrt entfernt. Es ist das beruehmteste Wrack auf Bali. Im Januar 1942 wurde dieser amerikanische Frachter von einem japanischen U-Boot abgeschossen, als es sich in der Strasse von Lombok befand. Da es nicht sofort sank, sollte es nach Singaraja zur Reparatur abgeschleppt werden, was aber nur bis Tulamben gelang. Die Liberty sank schliesslich 1963 aufgrund des Ausbruchs des Gunung Agung Vulkans auf die heutige Tiefe

Diving courses :
The courses take between 3-4 days. The pupils spend the mornings and afternoons in the water and are introduced to diving in small groups under the supervision of a qualified instructor. The last from a total of 6 instruction dives is made from the boot. The theory lessons (approx. 6 hours) are on 3 consecutive evenings between 5,30 and 7.30pm
After passing the exam the pupil receives an internationally recognised certificate (CMAS *). Or alternatively, the instruction can follow the PADI guidelines. (PADI Open Water Diver).
We also offer instruction up to CMAS Gold and PADI Divemaster for more experienced divers. Additionally we are qualified to teach and certify nearly all specialist courses..
